Applications for the2024-2025 Special Guide Licence (SGL) lottery will be open from
Monday, April 1 to Thursday, April 18 at 4:00 pm.
You can apply for SGL in person at a Department of Environment office or online through
your Environment e-Services account.
To make an application, clients will be required to provide both the Client ID and legal last
name of the Canadian resident they wish to guide. The Canadian resident must create an
Environment e-Services account prior to the application.
Reminder: SGL applicants can withdraw and re-submit an application through their online
account, provided the application period is still open. The withdrawn application will be
deleted and not considered active. There are no refunds for withdrawn applications, and the
hunter will need to pay again for the corrected application. No changes can be made after
the application deadline.
Hunters can also apply for SGL using the weighting only option. This means they will not
receive a licence for this year, but their odds of being successful increase for next year. This
is a valuable option for hunters who are unsure they will be able to hunt this year.
If you are successful in the lottery, you will be notified through the email address listed on
your client profile and through your e-services account. Clients are reminded to ensure their
email address and phone number is up to date on their client profile. Successful notifications
will be available the week of May 6.
