The 2020 hunting season is almost here!

The 2020-21 hunting season for many big game species begins August 1, 2020.  The Yukon Fish and Game Association wishes all hunters and their families a safe and enjoyable hunting and gathering season.  If you can, we encourage you to take a young person or someone new to hunting with you on your adventure and share your knowledge and appreciation for the Yukon and our hunting heritage.

Before heading out to hunt, be sure to pick up the 2020-2021 Yukon Hunting Regulation Summary (Regulation Summary) (https://yukon.ca/sites/yukon.ca/files/env/env-yukon-hunting-regulations-summary_en.pdf), read the summary and keep a copy with you. The rules of general application apply to all non-Settlement lands in the Yukon. Remember to request permission from the appropriate First Nation if you wish to hunt on Category “A” or “B” Settlement Lands.  In some instances-such as bison hunting- permission is also required from First Nations.  Refer to maps in the Regulation Summary for the location of Settlement Lands, if you have further questions, contact the Yukon Department of Environment.

Please respect wildlife and the land while hunting and recreating.  Take care of your harvest and leave your campsite clean. If you witness any violation of the Wildlife Act or Regulations, please call the “Turn in Poachers and Polluters” (TIPPS) Line at 1-800-661-0525.

Since 1945, the Yukon Fish and Game Association has been a champion for species conservation and the enduring availability of hunting and fishing opportunities for all Yukoners.  We will continue to do so every day for years to come! For more information, or to become a member, please see yukonfga.ca or call 867-667-4263.

Happy hunting!
